The Ecosystem Explorer is a web application that helps users discover and understand OpenTelemetry instrumentation components before deploying them. Currently, evaluating OpenTelemetry requires deploying it in your services just to see what telemetry you'll receive. The Ecosystem Explorer eliminates this barrier by providing comprehensive component information upfront through an accessible web interface. Users can browse instrumentations across multiple OpenTelemetry projects (Java Agent, Collector, and future language implementations), explore what telemetry each component emits, and compare behavior across versions and configurations.

Vision

Make OpenTelemetry component evaluation effortless. Instead of deploying services to discover what telemetry you'll receive, users should be able to explore comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date information about any OpenTelemetry component through an intuitive web interface. By automating metadata extraction and providing version-aware comparisons, the Ecosystem Explorer reduces evaluation friction and helps teams make confident adoption decisions across the entire OpenTelemetry ecosystem.
