Description
Which component are you using?:
/area helm-charts
What version of the component are you using?:
Component version: cluster-autoscaler-chart-9.51.0 (which uses appVersion 1.33.0)
What k8s version are you using (kubectl version)?:
N/A - This is a chart release issue, not environment-specific
What environment is this in?:
N/A - This affects all environments using the Helm charts
What did you expect to happen?:
After cluster-autoscaler 1.33.3 was released on December 1, 2025, I expected a corresponding Helm chart release (e.g., cluster-autoscaler-chart-9.51.1, 9.51.2, or 9.51.3) that would package this version, allowing users to upgrade within the 1.33.x line using the official Helm charts.
What happened instead?:
No Helm chart release was published for cluster-autoscaler 1.33.3. The chart releases jumped from:
cluster-autoscaler-chart-9.51.0 (Oct 10, 2025) → appVersion: 1.33.0
cluster-autoscaler-chart-9.52.0 (Oct 15, 2025) → appVersion: 1.34.0
cluster-autoscaler-chart-9.53.0 (Dec 4, 2025) → appVersion: 1.34.0
cluster-autoscaler-chart-9.54.x → appVersion: 1.35.0
This means versions 1.33.1, 1.33.2, and 1.33.3 have no corresponding chart releases.
How to reproduce it (as minimally and precisely as possible):
Check releases: gh release list | grep -E "(1.33|chart-9.51)"
Observe that cluster-autoscaler 1.33.1, 1.33.2, and 1.33.3 exist
Observe that no chart releases exist between 9.51.0 (appVersion 1.33.0) and 9.52.0 (appVersion 1.34.0)
Try to find a Helm chart for cluster-autoscaler 1.33.3: none exists
Anything else we need to know?:
This creates a problem for users who need to stay on the 1.33.x line for stability or compatibility reasons but want the bug fixes from 1.33.3. Current workarounds include manually overriding image.tag in Helm values, which is not ideal for production environments.
Could a chart release be published for cluster-autoscaler 1.33.3 (and ideally 1.33.1 and 1.33.2 as well) to provide a proper upgrade path?
